Introduction.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ultra compact 16-port metal unmanaged Ethernet switch with support for QoS and Broadcast storm protection. QoS is usually only available on managed switches, choose this model if you want to save money.<\/p>\n

EDS-2016-ML<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the latest model in Moxa's new series of compact and affordable unmanaged switches with QoS support. This model will have special approvals such as IECEx, C1D2, Atex Zone 2, DNV, GL and NEMA TS2, to meet the increasing and demanding requirements from the various industrial areas.<\/p>\n

Initially, we can deliver the standard model with 16 RJ45 ports, but in the second half of 2020, models with built-in fibre, 2x Multimode or 2x Singlemode will be available.<\/p>\n

All models come standard for temperature ranges -10 to +60\u00b0C, or the -T models, which can handle -40 to +85\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Quality of Service \/ QoS<\/strong><\/p>\n

As the Ethernet connection is used for more and more different forms of communication, bandwidth is becoming increasingly scarce. There's no getting around the fact that some data is more important to get through faster than others, such as VoIP or PLC controls, so we need to prioritise.<\/p>\n

QoS is a function that tells the Ethernet switch that some packets have higher priority than others. If multiple packets arrive at the same time, the Ethernet switch makes sure that the packet with the lowest QoS gets through first, followed by the others.<\/p>\n

QoS has been around for many years, but only in managed switches. The EDS-2016-ML series is an unmanaged switch that supports QoS, i.e. at a much lower price than the managed switches. This makes it possible to support QoS right down to the last device at a low price.<\/p>\n

EDS-2000 series<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moxa has developed a brand new range of Ethernet switches, compact to save space. Today it is necessary to install a switch in already installed solutions, so the smaller the switch, the easier the installation will be.<\/p>\n
