Industrial 4G LTE Cat 1 wireless gateway

4g LTE OnCell_3120-LTE-1 from Moxa. CAT 1 is with 10MB/5MB. Enough to transfer data at low power consumption.

Introducing 4G LTE.

Ultra low power consumption (<40mW in standby), reliable connection with GuaranLink, 2 SIM cards, robust ATEX Zone 2 / IECEx and Cyber security for Industrial Automation IEC 62443-4-2.

4G or LTE?

Just as 3G was available in different speeds (standard, HSDPA and HSPA), 4G also comes in different speeds. With 4G, however, they are more mathematically referred to as LTE CAT 1, LTE CAT 2, LTE CAT 3, LTE CAT 4 and so on. LTE is a contraction for Long Term Evolution.

Data is sent in blocks of 10 or 20MHz, where the fastest speed is achieved at 20MHz, alternatively by stacking 2x 10MHz. At 10MHz you get a lower bandwidth, but there is room for more devices.

Roughly speaking, 4G LTE CAT1 will give you 10MB download and 5MB upload and 4G LET CAT 5 will give you 300MB download and 75MB upload speeds. However, you will typically only get half or lower speeds in practice.

In our daily work and private lives today, we can't do without our smart phone. We use it to read emails, download data and watch movies, speed is an important factor. The faster the mobile connection we can get, the better.

But for smaller devices in industry that monitor various processes, not much data is transferred, but low power consumption is often a requirement. With 4G LTE CAT 1, 10MB/5MB is more than enough to transfer the little data you have, but it can be done at a lower power consumption.

OnCell 3120-LTE-1

Our new modem that supports 4G LTE CAT 1 is model number OnCell 3120-LTE-1. There are three models, depending on which continent they are to be used (-US, -EU or -AU), as there is a slight difference in which bands/frequencies are used.

Our Gateway comes with a 4G modem installed and handles 0° to 55°C as standard, but if that's not enough, you can order the extended temperature model (-T), which handles 30° to 70°C.

The device can be powered from 9 to 36VDC and has a low power consumption of typically 5W, or less than 40mW in standby.

Antennas are not included, but it is possible as an option to order exactly the antenna or antennas that suit the task at hand, there are several to choose from.
