Introduction.
Ultra compact 5-port unmanaged Ethernet switch in plastic or metal with support for QoS and Broadcast storm protection. Less than half the volume of Moxa's popular EDS-205, which we have successfully sold for several years.

More compact.
This new 5-port unmanaged Ethernet switch from Moxa is incredibly compact and is available in a plastic or metal version. The metal version measures only 18mm in width, 81mm in height, 65mm in depth and weighs only 105g, the plastic model is 1mm wider but otherwise the same dimensions, but weighs almost half as much, only 56g.
In terms of volume, they take up less than half the space of the popular models we sell today, EDS-205 and EDS-205A. So there is no longer as much space required for installation.
Standard temperature range is -10 to +60°C for both plastic and metal versions, but for more demanding installations the metal version is also available in an extended temperature version -40 to +75°C

Lower price.
This new series of compact switches is priced cheaper than the EDS-205 and EDS-205A models we have delivered until now. We therefore expect that this new series will take over the part of the sales we currently have on the other two models.
The EDS-205 and EDS-205A series will not be phased out, they will continue to be available. The reason is that they have special approvals that the new series does not have, and the new series cannot be delivered with fiber as the EDS-205A series can.
But around 80% of the installations we sell to today could benefit from switching to the new compact series.

QoS.
This new series supports QoS, so you can be sure that the packets you've chosen are important, prioritized and always get through the switch and to the receiver first. This is a common and often used feature on managed switches, but this is the first time we see QoS supported on an unmanaged switch.
This means that with multiple installations, you can now ”make do” with a cheap unmanaged switch and save a lot of money, as a managed switch is at the high end in terms of price.
On the Ethernet switch is a dipswitch to enable or disable QoS. Rest packets that come through the switch first are fixed and are as shown in the diagram above.

5-year warranty.
Even though this series of switches is on the low end, we still offer a 5-year warranty. This means you can rely on the quality, they are designed for industrial use.
