Unmanaged Switch 8-port with QoS support

Unmanaged switch with 8 ports in plastic or metal with support for QoS and Broadcast Storm Protection. EDS-2008-ELP, EDS-2008-EL/-T, EDS-2008-EL-M-SC/-T and EDS-2008-EL-M-ST/-T from Moxa.

Introduction to unmanaged switch.

Ultra compact unmanaged switch with 8 ports in plastic or metal with support for QoS and Broadcast Storm Protection. 8x RJ45 or 7x RJ45 + 1x Multimode fiber. Less than half the volume of Moxa's popular EDS-208A.

More compact.

This new 8-port switch series from Moxa is incredibly compact and is available in a plastic or metal version. Measuring only 36mm in width, 81mm in height, 65mm in depth and weighing only 163g, the plastic model is even smaller, only 90g.

In terms of volume, they take up less than half the space of the popular model we sell today, the EDS-208A. So there is no longer as much space required for installation.

The standard temperature range is -10 to +60°C for both the plastic and metal version, but the metal version is also available in an extended temperature version -40 to +75°C for more demanding installations.

Lower price.

This new series of compact switches is priced lower than the EDS-208 and EDS-208A series, the models we have delivered until now. We therefore expect that this new series will take over the part of the sales we currently have on the two older models.

The EDS-208 and EDS-208A series will not be phased out, they will continue to be available. The reason is that they have special approvals that the new series does not have, such as Ex, DNV and EN50121.

But around 85% of the installations we sell to today can benefit from switching to this new compact series.

QoS.

This new series supports QoS, so you can be sure that the packets you've chosen are important, prioritized and always get through the switch and to the receiver first. This is a common and often used feature on managed switches, but this is the first time we see QoS supported on an unmanaged switch.

This means that for multiple installations, you can now ”make do” with a cheap unmanaged switch and save a lot of money, as a Managed Switch is in a somewhat higher price range.

On the Ethernet switches is a dipswitch to enable or disable QoS. Rest packets that come through the switch first are fixed and are as shown in the diagram above.

5-year warranty.

Even though this series of switches is on the low end, we still offer a 5-year warranty. This means you can rely on the quality, they are designed for industrial use.
