One platform, many possibilities.
Industrial networks are being used in more and more places and are growing in scope, placing high demands on both scaling and security. Building a flexible, scalable and reliable network capable of meeting the growing demands and variety of industrial networks presents challenges in many locations. Therefore, flexible and easy-to-maintain solutions are essential to ensure reliable operation while keeping costs down.
With the introduction of Moxa's MDS-G4000 series of modular Ethernet switches, it is possible to mix and match the exact combination of Ethernet connections depending on the task requirements. It will be easier to install and maintain, as it is the same switch from task to task, but with different Ethernet modules installed.
100 different combinations.
There are several different modules to choose from, all with 4 ports each, RJ45, PoE or SFP (fiber), 10, 1000 or 1000mbit, as well as two Power modules for redundant supply, 24-48VDC or 110-220VDC/VAC.
The base module is available in three versions, all of which come standard with 4x RJ45 Gigabit ports. There is room for 2 supply modules and 2, 4 or 6 expansion modules. So the three basic modules can have from 4 to 12 ports, 4 to 20 or 4 to 28 ports.
How swappable.
Even though Moxa products are of the highest quality and designed for 24×7 industrial use, it can still happen that a module breaks. Either due to external causes such as lightning or incorrect operation. But then it's nice to know that the individual modules can be replaced while the power is on, without having to turn off the switches.
In fact, it's all built around a passive backplane where almost anything can break, the rest is easy to replace due to the modular design.
Next-level usability.
The MDS-G4000 comes with Moxa's new user interface, which makes it easy and straightforward to install and maintain the switch and installation.
Either via the switch's built-in Dashboard, Moxa's virtual tool Mx View or their app for your smartphone. All this together makes it easy to monitor your installation and of course with the highest level of security with multiple user levels.
DIN rail or 19” rack mounting?
The MDS-G4000 series is designed to be DIN-rail mounted in a panel, but we can also deliver a kit so one or more switches can be installed in a 19” rack, 3U high.
