Data collection and control of industrial processes has been managed by process engineers for many years, but there is a pressing need for processes to be monitored at a higher level. To gather data that can be evaluated and used to find errors and prevent them before they occur. You may also want a view of a running process at an even higher level, without setting anything major in motion.
This is where IT technicians come in, but they typically have no experience with the protocols used in the process layer. Modbus/RTU and Modbus/TCP are black talk, instead SNMP, RESTful API and MQTT are commonplace
This new modular I/O solution from Moxa takes this into account. It supports both Modbus/RTU and Modbus/TCP as well as SNMP, RESTful API and MQTT, so it can be used by both OT and IT engineers.

The ioThinx 4510 series is designed for I/O such as Digital inputs and outputs, Analog inputs and outputs, RTD and TC temperature sensors, but in many cases there is also a need to support special modules with Modbus/RTU (serial) or Modbus/TCP (Ethernet) interfaces. ioThinx 4500 series also solves this as it has a built-in Modbus Gateway. Easy to use and easy to set up without extensive knowledge of the Modbus protocol.
Easy to install.
The ioThinx 4510 series of modules fits easily on a DIN rail. It consists of a CPU module and up to 32 I/O modules of your choice. The I/O modules are easily mounted next to the CPU module by sliding them into the slots, which also provide electrical connection, no loose/extra wires between modules.
The individual wires for the I/O connections are screwless, the wires are easily pressed into the connectors without the use of tools. This approach saves time when installing the devices, it's quick and easy and the connections are stable even if the installation is in a shaky location.
If, after everything is installed and in use, you find that you need to replace a single I/O module, it's easy to do so. Without tools, the defective module can easily be detached from the DIN rail and replaced with a new one.
