MID-approved energy meters
MID-approved energy meters are certified according to the EU Measuring Instruments Directive (MID), making them suitable for financial settlement, including billing, internal distribution or contract-based metering.
The energy meters are verified according to standards such as EN 50470-1 and EN 50470-3, ensuring mechanical precision, electromagnetic robustness and measurement accuracy up to class C.
Areas of application
MID-approved meters are used when meter data is to be used for billing purposes - e.g. in multi-user buildings, rental or for internal billing between companies, where high accuracy and reliable documentation of meter data is a legal requirement.
In larger installations, energy consumption can be distributed between departments, machines or production lines to optimize operation and energy economy - with documentation that meets regulatory requirements.
MID meters are often equipped with protection features such as tamper monitoring and secure data storage that prevent unauthorized access or changes to measurement data.
Technical integration
MID approved meters are available in modular DIN rail format and support communication protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP and M-Bus, enabling direct connection to SCADA, energy management or building monitoring systems.
