Ground fault monitoring
Earth fault relays for monitoring fault current in DC installations
Fault current and ground faults in large DC systems can cause serious operational problems, equipment damage, and increased risk to personal safety. With our range of earth fault relays – also known as fault current relays – you get a reliable solution for continuous monitoring of earth faults, leakage current, and insulation faults in, for example, solar parks, UPS systems, and battery storage facilities.
Our relays detect even minor changes in the current flow and provide early warning of faults in both + and – wires. Several models also offer fault detection in branched systems, making troubleshooting faster and more accurate.
Here you can see a selection of our many relays for earth fault monitoring – contact us to find out more.
Power AC

DACB-DACC
3-channel AC earth fault relay, DACB-DACC
Compact and accurate relay for monitoring earth faults in TN, TT, and IT networks. Detects leakage currents early and enables preventive maintenance in industrial installations.
Advantages:
- IEC 60755 Type A and IEC 62020-1 compliant
- Measures true r.m.s. differential currents in AC systems
- Three independent channels with external measuring coils up to Ø150 mm
- Four fixed or continuously adjustable set points (2-300 mA)
- Adjustable delay, hysteresis, latch function, and LED status per channel

IMAA
Advantages:
- For alternating current (AC)
- Measurement of differential current (earth fault) with manual 30 mA test function
- 12 programmable measuring ranges for overcurrent or undercurrent
- Individually adjustable switch-on and switch-off delay
- Relay function can be reversed (normal/inverse)
Power DC

DDCA
DC current leakage relay – DDCA
The supply cables are installed directly through the hole in the relay. This enables detection of fault currents in both the + and – wires. Faults can be the result of poor insulation, for example.
The built-in measuring transformer eliminates the need for shunts with the resulting voltage drop and heat generation.
Advantages:
- Both ungrounded systems and systems with grounded medium voltage
- Built-in measuring coil, Ø12.5 mm and Ø28 mm
- Detects fault currents in the range of 5-200 mA
- Supply range 18-340 VDC
- Output signal indicating direction (12 ± 8 mA) and LED indication
- Relay function: 2 x C/O (fault from + or -)
- Adjustable time delay for ON and OFF

DDCB-DDCC
Alternative solution for thicker cables using an external measuring coil, Ø50 mm or Ø90 mm.
Advantages:
- Detects ground current leakage in DC power supply systems (IT networks) by differential current measurement
- Indicates whether the fault is related to the positive or negative conductor
- Measuring coils available for cables up to Ø90 mm
- Configurable trip levels and alarm outputs tailored to application requirements
- High immunity to false tripping caused by noise and electromagnetic interference
- Wide DC supply voltage from 18 to 340 V
- Directional 12 ± 8 mA output and LED indication for monitoring and easy troubleshooting

DDEA
DC earth fault monitoring – DDEA
When using an artificial earth, the relay detects fault currents from the + or - side to earth. This may be the result of a direct fault or poor insulation.
Advantages:
- Detects fault currents in the range 0.2-30 mA
- Actual fault current shown in 3.5” LED display
- Supply range 20-500 VDC
- Programmable delay
- Relay function: 2 x C/O (fault from + or -)
